Royal London offers serious illness benefit

Provider Royal London has announced that they will be offering serious illness benefit to support their direct to consumer business. The provider has said that due to the complex nature of serious and critical illness cover, they want to provide customers with the new additional option.

The new product tackles the concern that serious and critical illness cover is too complicated without an adviser’s help. Royal London has said the new product will make cover simple and affordable. The serious illness benefit is an additional option that dependent on age, pays out a lump sum of £350,000 and includes children’s cover of up to £25,000.

Consumer research found that there are many barriers to buying serious or critical illness cover, with the most common one being the complexity of the product. This makes talking to an adviser even more important and valuable when making plans about protection.
